Orientation for new students takes place before each semester begins. Orientation will vary slightly depending on your program, but will involve:
• Getting familiar with our learning platforms and technology
• Getting to know other new students
• Preparing for your registration
• Learning about the services that we provide
• Ensuring that you are ready to begin classes
Key Winter 2025 Orientation Dates
For University Transfer and Associate Degrees Students (Main Campus)
University students – we will contact you with access to your Columbia College e-mail account.
If you have paid your tuition deposit in full and have provided all required documents, you will be given your Columbia College student credentials for your e-mail account and Microsoft 365 accounts.
University students – Connect with your dedicated Student Engagement Ambassador through your College e-mail and Teams accounts.
University students will be contacted by their dedicated Student Engagement Ambassador (SEA) .
SEAs are current University students who are here to answer your questions, help you through the registration process and support you to be ready to start your classes!
Attend your Welcome to Columbia College session
You will be invited to attend an information session related to packing for Canada, adapting to Vancouver, your registration and program, and preparing for your classes. We will send this information to you through your CC e-mail account – keep checking for updates about these sessions.
Attendance for this session is mandatory in order for your registration to be completed.
Confirm that you are planning to register for the Winter 2025 semester.
ON-CAMPUS ORIENTATION
- Get to know the campus, where services are provided, and where your classes are located.
- Students will receive their Columbia College Student IDs and Access card (transit).
- Quick introduction to Academic Advisors.
- Applying for BC’s medical insurance (MSP).
- Attend educational workshops on Indigenization and EDI
- Take part in fun games, sign up for prizes, and meet your classmates!
First day of classes!
Last day to add or drop classes and make changes to your schedule.
For High School and UPrep Students (North Campus)
We will contact you with access to your Columbia College e-mail account.
If you have paid your tuition deposit in full and have provided all required documents, you will be given your Columbia College student credentials for your e-mail account and Microsoft 365 accounts.
Connect with your Orientation Leaders (OL), who will:
• Mentor you through Orientation to help you succeed and thrive in your first semester
• Provide tutorials and information guides on important steps to follow
• Introduce you to the campus and safety procedures to follow
• Support you in meeting other students and making new friends
• Help make sure that you are prepared to begin classes
Attend your Welcome & Registration sessions.
You will be invited to attend a variety of online information sessions related to your program, your registration and preparing for your classes. We will send this information to you through your CC e-mail account – keep checking for updates about these sessions.
Attendance at these sessions is mandatory in order for your registration to be completed.

HIGH SCHOOL COURSE REGISTRATION
- Register into your Fall 2024 courses by appointment with your Academic Advisor.
- You may attend the appointment in person at the Columbia College campus or virtually through Microsoft Teams.
HIGH SCHOOL ON-CAMPUS ORIENTATION
- Quick introduction to teachers and staff.

First day of classes!

All new students are required to confirm your enrollment for Fall 2024 Semester by completing this form.
Important: The deadline to submit your enrollment confirmation is Dec 20, 2024
Volunteering for Orientation takes place the week prior to the start of each semester.
Orientation Leaders make a new student’s transition to their Canadian College experience positive and exciting!

• Help make sure that you are prepared to begin classes
Your Orientation Leader (OL) will:
• Mentor you through Orientation to help you succeed and thrive in your first semester

• Introduce you to the campus and safety procedures to follow
• Support you in meeting other students and making new friends
• Help make sure that you are prepared to begin classes
If you are planning to travel during or after Orientation, you still need to attend the relevant sessions and complete your registration.
University students – Registering early will allow you more time to prepare for your classes.
Secondary students – Registration will be done by appointment with an Academic Advisor
