Phys 120 (Electricity and Magnetism) and Math 213 (Calculus III)

An intermediate level course in electricity and magnetism. Topics include: vector analysis (divergence, gradient, curl, Gauss’s and Stokes’ theorems), electrostatics, magnetostatics, electromagnetic induction, alternating currents, Maxwell’s equations and electromagnetic waves.

After the successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:

– understand the fundamental laws and concepts of electricity and magnetism

– apply the theoretical knowledge in order to solve related problems

– apply the acquired knowledge in the laboratory

– enter and successfully complete further, more advanced courses in physics and/or

electrical engineering
