This criminology course provides an introductory analysis of the Canadian criminal justice system and its various elements with reference to the nature of criminal law, the philosophy of crime control, criminal justice policy, and current trends/patterns of crime in Canada. Students will study the various components that form the processes by which Canada responds to criminal behavior. They will survey each of these components, such as the police, courts, and corrections, and will evaluate their impact on achieving justice.
